My Testimony

I testify to the goodness and mercy of God. I recall as a child visiting my grandmother in the country, who went to work, leaving my cousin and me at home. It was afternoon, we were hungry, and I decided to leave and go into the bushes to find something to eat. I headed to the area where a giant mango tree stood. When I got there, all the low-lying fruits were gone. I stood there looking at the fruits at the top of the tree. I know that I couldn't reach them. I gazed at the mangoes, yearning to eat one. I painfully turned around to head back to Grandma. I looked down, and there on the ground was a mango. I happily picked it up and thought about taking it home to shear it with my cousin. The mango was small, and I realized that if I gave her both sides of the mango, all I would have left would be the small center. I ate it. I wiped my mouth; however, traces of the mango remained on my mouth. My cousin promptly asked, “What’s that on your mouth?” I told her where I got it, and she headed toward the mango tree. As she disappeared out of the yard, I knew she was not going to get one, but I didn't stop her from going. After some time, she returned empty-handed. I kept silent. God favored me.
